  ANAGLYPHS WITH 'VIRTUAL STEREO'

Mostly things you thought you knew, but didn't

    ABSTRACT

Traditional
wisdom (dogma) holds that
3D or stereo is impossible without two
images taken, their fields slightly apart in comprising
a two-image binnocular stereo pair emmulating human eyesight
when the two images are viewed side by side and focused
to become one with stereo. Recent developements
by trial and error have shown that stereo
resides in any mono photograph or
digital image created
by Leptons
which include
photons (light) and
electrons. Since light striking
the lens arrives from any direction, any angle,
these 'incident' rays create a cross hatch pattern of incident
angles in the rays, stored in the image far too hyperfine to be
discerned by normal eyesight but nonetheless there stored
as a form of subtle hologram. Suitable methods to
re-engage the subtle hologram's stereo
presence in the mono image are
possible and easily
used. Patterns
of positive
re-enforcement
and negative cancellation
(peaks and valleys) do the work to
recreate stereo from a mono image. A new form
of image presentation, called 'Anaglyphs' has made it
possible to create 3D stereo images from either combining both
images of a stereo pair into one image viewed with normal 3D stereo
glasses (red/blue lens), and also by combining two mono views of
a single image into a stereo Anaglyph view. Since mono has
less 3D content than outright binnocular two-image
stereo, techniques can be used to coach more
stereo seen in an Anaglyph made from a
single image. In the following,
images made by 'illegally'
stretching one image
by 8 horizontal
points in
the
'deformation'
functions of a simple
easy to use graphics editor (such
as Paint Shop Pro), and 'illegally' stretching the
other image vertically by 4 points, when merged in a stereo
anaglyph the two 'illegal' images become combined in a positively
re-enforced way to produce genuine 3D stereo more than adequately
enough to view, study, and understand the image's stereo content
even if the view is not 100% true to form, that is, not made
by a binnocular pair of images created with the most
exacting qualities of physics and technology.
In fact, only just one 'illegal' anaglyph
is shown here, a volcano, all
others are made, as far
as I can recollect,
from natural
mono

CONTENTS INCLUDE

Street scene - Quasar the friendly little brown dog comes home.
Giant tympani resonator dominates scene in Triangulus galaxy.
Volcanos hork forth fully revved roaring in fine form in 3D.
Look into the atom. Really SEE how the atom works.
Boris the horis gets slide rule measure at M51.
The Whirlpool galaxy - it is NOT flat, NO.
Giant M101 looms in huge stereo.

Each of these
anaglyph stereos were
made from a single mono picture,
tapping the mono's inherent virtual stereo.
Use a pair of red/blue 3D glasses to see the stereo

Anaglyph stereos are inherently blurrier, a little darker, than original images and images staged in Virtual stereo. The anaglyph advantage is
in allowing large single images to be studied for stereo revelations. For instance, look at this large analgyph image of monstrous spiral galaxy
M101. The image is reduced from a width of 2500, to 800, for screen presence, the larger image at 2500 width simply too overwhelming for reasonable view in a computer screen. Nonetheless that larger image printed and posted on a wall would be a mind blower, and, dynamically stereoscopically correct

Anaglyphs,
upon the acceptance
that the 3D you get is genuine,
can be a very useful tool for studying
astronomy, everything from nebula to galaxies.
I am presenting a couple of astronomy anaglyphs
just to show how well it can be done but for me it
can be tedious making them and it is not always
easy getting good stereo in the anaglyph
expecially since the view through the
3D glasses is inherently darker
and sometimes the astronomy
colors clash in anaglyph
so I have not pushed
the potentials
although
without
question
jaw dropping
demonstrations and
classroom sessions for throngs
all together as one can be made using giant
.TIFF images made into anaglyphs and projected on a wall

Anaglyph of the
'Whirlpool galaxy' - the
'Whirlpool' is rotated in space at
a slightly turned slant and decline, and the
whole right side rooster tail drags behind. Boris
the horis (small nearby intense object) is slightly
behind, canted like the side view mirror on
an 18 wheeler Mack truck and tilted
slightly back

AN INTREGAL ARM IN THE WHIRLPOOL GALAXY

Virtual stereo view (two same mono views side by side), shows
'gravitational pinch' caused by a lower arm being pulled across
another arm, the arm being pulled is attached to the remote
nearby small galaxy. Intregal means the arm still has
tensil form under extreme stress, indicating
it is somehow sustained within

All of
the anaglyphs in
this presentation were
created using a free download
'anaglyph' shareware from France at
this site (click on ship). You need
red and blue 3D glasses to
view the ship

Obviously
these guys are
pros, how they got the
bow of the ship to cruise over
your toes is technique beyond anything used
by me in these included 3D stereo images, except, I
suspect the ship was made from a lens augmented
3D binnocular stereo pair, whereas mine
are all solos, made from monos,
this ship the only image
shown not by me

PROVISO

The
following
selection of 3D stereo
anaglyphs, and 'virtual' stereo 3D images,
can be uncomfortable on the eyes, even when viewed
through 3D red and blue glasses. Their intent (the images)
is to show and compare various methods and degrees of
stereo attained, rather than merely as enjoyable
pictures to look at in maximum comfort, ergo
the possibility of some discomfort to
certain individuals who view them

Anaglyph 3D stereo of a volcano made from a mono image

Focus
the two together
as a 'virtual' stereo pair
to see 3D, then view either through
red and blue 3D glasses, you will
see there is not a great deal
of difference between the
two forms of stereo

ILLEGALLY STRETCHED VOLCANO IMAGE

Large
anaglyph
of a volcano
made with 'illegal' stretching,
one image by +8 horizontal points, the other
by +4 vertical points, before combining the two 'stretched'
images to make the anaglyph, the stretching adding
a greater 3D depth to parts closer
to the camera

A 'virtual 3D'
view of a dog coming home
up the street. Two identical mono images
presented side by side each slightly altered (in display only)
from original Width and Height, produces a noticably correct
stereo, proving that genuine 3D content is stored in the
original mono image. The picture was taken with a
dirt cheap plastic 110mm camera so given the
camera quality we are lucky to have a
picture of the dog at all

QUASAR COMES HOME   the Gatineau Hills are blue in the distance

Anaglyph 3D stereo

In fact
looking at any
image in 3D glasses produces
a modicum of 3D but that is just due to
the fact that red wavelengths are longer than blue,
the blue refractive properties slightly out of
phase to red, causing 'excitement' so to
speak in the peaks and valleys of
the refractments originally
stored in the mono
image as 'stereo'

ELECTRON BEAM DIFFRACTING
THROUGH THE ATOMIC LATTICE OF A CRYSTAL OF
LEAD HYDROXIDE SALT REVEALS ATOMS IN FORMATIONS AND HEXAGRAMS

Ghosts of secondary patterns can just be seen, in this high level photo enhancement

Electrons
(Leptons in the
same family of particles
as photons) have created this 3D
image stored in a mono image flat template,
which leaps to life with dots set at precise stereo
angles, showing the true order of the atom, it being fractal
occuping three dimensional space. The elctron hexagram platelets
(floating hexo formations), are stacked, each in its own plane
well separated from one other in 3D space cant angled to
the left, the left platelets the furthest away.
Each hexo object and straight line in
the hexo diffraction is in its
own horizon plane

It is
amazing
what the 'anaglyph'
is revealing about the inner
atomic layout of this crystal, there
are properties laid bare right in the open that
physicists haven't even begun to suspect
in their theories. Remember, you
saw it here first

'Virtual' stereo version, focus the two images together for 3D

Electron diffraction pattern
by an electron microscope focusing to
planes to reveal corresponding diffraction patterns

Here
we learn
by anaglyph, that
the diffraction pattern is
asymmetric, that is, the upper half is
at a different cant to the lower half, the lower
half (south west side) is rotated distinctly out of phase
with the upper half. Assume the rotational angle between
the two halves is in phase with a hexo formation, that
is, harmonically either 30, or 60 degrees or
+-15 degrees more thereof. So, big
question, did scientists
know this pattern
is asymmetric.
They do
now

If you
look near
the core, above it,
with or without 3D red/blue
glasses, you will see parallel streaks
heading in a slight downslope to the right. It
is critical to understand what these
streaks are. Find out here

NO SMOKING

A sign
of the times.
Here it is May of
year 2000 and if you set
a match to a pile of leaves you've
raked in your front yard, the police will come
by to haul you away in handcuffs where you will spend
some time cluttering the city jail perhaps even a prison then
appear before a judge to hear what your punishment and
sentence will be. Not even science fiction writer
Ray Bradbury saw that one coming
