PROOF OF VIRTUAL 3D STEREO
If you
walk into any
Stereo and TV outlet with
a battery of TV's lining the wall and look
for any pair combo of two identical TV models side by
side on the same channel, if you combine the two pictures together
by standing well back and focusing, you will see more than a modicum
of stereo, not smashing stereo special effect such as in movies or
broadcast with red and blue stereo glasses, but, yet, enough
stereo to know that stereo is fundamentally intrinsic
in the TV's mono picture. Clerks in the store
may tell you they in fact look at TV
stereo all the time - I had
this happen and it
came about by
focusing
two TV's
in a stereo
and TV store then
commenting on the rather
noticable stereo whereupon the
staff all reported that they look at stereo
in TV's filling a whole wall of the store all the time.
I used 'drift' focus, letting my eyes drift out of focus until
a (3rd) 'virtual' picture focuses in between at the same
size as the originals in the two TV sets (virtual
since the 3rd image does not actually exist
in hard copy source it is strictly
a fact of interractive photons
like a mirror). One
of the clerks
reported
also using
'drift' focus in
seeing TV stereo from mono
sets, which they could do like me. A
couple of other clerks reported they went cross-eyed
without discomfort to focus the resulting 3D image, which is
about 1/3 smaller. This simple test which you can do at anytime
is proof that Virtual 3D Stereo exists in any mono image or
picture source, the 'Virtual' stereo being correct and
true to form according to the original image,
though not neccessarily striking as may
be seen in a true binnocular stereo
two-picture pair 3D image.
The fact of full size
vrs 2/3 size
between
'drift'
focusing
and going
cross-eyed for
focus, should make a
very interesting challenging physics
project for someone working out the principles by
which the two different methods of focus produce two different
sized resulting Virtual 3D images. The test can be conclusive by using
a normal 3D binnocular two-image picture pair, focusing the two images
together without glasses or devices by 'drift' and by cross-eyed. Two
binnocular stereo images can be focused by naked eyesight.
Scientific stereo demonstrations in textbook print
or magazine usually suggest using a
divider to separate the
two images, or
red-blue
3D glasses.
Binoccular stereo
have two non-stereo strips
down either side of the image where no
duo image stereo was photographed, the strips are
very noticable in normal binnocular stereo viewing with
red-green glasses, etc., but hardly noticed when focusing
the two binnocular stereo images together by nake eyesight,
since a modicum of each picture's intrinsic Virtual 3D
content takes over to import a modicum of 3D
in the two border strips

How is this possible?

Bi-lateral
symmetry, in this
case asymmetry found at
the core, cannot be more self
evident the instant the above image
is viewed in stereo by focusing the two
images together. All galaxy cores seem to
have bi-lateral symmetry to one degree or
another, in the case of Andromeda the
bi-lateral symmetry seems slight
for appearances of the large
glowing ball, but when
appeared exposed
the bi-lateral
symmetry is
far more
obvious

Notice a
spike sticking
out from under the rim,
aligned with the core. Though short
and reedy, this spike is the marker of Andromeda
galaxy's north/south symmetry, in keeping with the
much longer east/west symmetry which allows
itself seen in major formations, moires
in the case of Andromeda. A rule
is thus stated, that the
symmetry markers of
one pole axis
in 4-way
axial symmetry
is very short, while
the other marker blows up
at the ends of both poles in the
other axial symmetry pole pair, which is
at right angles to the short marker pole pair, in
Andromeda's case, the short pole marker is unseen behind
the rear rim, the blowup pole markers the 'bullseye' and 'eye in
the sky' moire contentrics cammed slightly in clockwise rotation
at either end along the east/west axis, the slight clockwise
turn of that symmetry axis entirely in keeping in lockstep
with the slant of Andromeda's short north/south pole
pair markers (the spike sticking out). And that,
palms rubbing together print whorls going
wssst wssst wssst, takes care of that
The
spike stiking
out is too hard-copy to
be random. Let us say then it marks
one of the four poles of the galaxy, this pole
expected to be matched by something behind the scenes on
the far rear side of the galaxy, the pole canted at an angle
which matches the slant of the core, the pole axle stiking
out from below the rim tells us the motor of the central
core is down in the socket rather than near the top
of the glowing egg. Since this pole lays along
the right side of the core, suspect the
rearside other pole to lay along
the left side of the core

Andromeda
is a large disk
in the sky, deep dish
not a sickle cell. When two
images are merged together by using
muscle controlled eyesight to focus them, details
of each image combine in a positively re-enforced way to
amplify details which now sharpened and clear would be
overlooked in a normal mono view. It also happens
that latent 3D content inherent in the
original photograph is also active
in the merge. It was always
thought by physicists
that stereo could
only occur by
binoccular
two image
combination
each image taken
with a separate lens at
from 6 inches to 6 feet apart. The
advent of 'anaglyph' imaging as a way to create
stereo views (using red and blue stereo glasses) made from
a single mono image, has established that mono pictures are stereo,
the 3D in mono no worse than a poor quality binnocular stereo view
but nowhere as breathtaking as full view binnocular stereo seen
at its real best. Here next a 'virtual' stereo look at the very
wide panorama as you look across to the far horizon of
the very tilted Andromeda which in fact is seen
more on edge than from above, as you
instantly learn in virtual
stereo view. 'Virtual'
means you see a

physically there)

you merge the two images together by eyesight

the upright core's yellow fingers are also rotated at

3D again, that this is a L O 0 0 N G
swoop, it is stretched out front to back, it
is not a tight compact merry go round around

in space. It is a 'vortex', a long
cylinder winding around an
axis through space.
Take a slinky
and stretch
it out, then slowly
rotate it in your hand, the
turning coiling slinky is a 'vortex'
and many galaxies are like this, stretched out
huge long distances in space, unlike 2 dimensional views
which create a totally false illusion that all galaxies are snuffed
up around a core. But this is simply not true, as a single second
look at the above image, and a quick look at images here,
will tell you in a way you will remember forever after.
Vortex forms are invariably contracted inward

and for the second reason that since seeing this core's
profoundly self evident bi-lateral symmetry, no
core of a galaxy since has been seen which
does not have bi-lateralness to some
degree, usually self evident even
to the naked eye, sometimes
seen only after a look

WORKABLE THEORY SUGGESTION
Any image you see by eyesight is not formed at the surface of what you
see, but rather in a thin layer immediately above the surface. Photons
incoming and leaving (absorption/emmision) pass through this plane of
incident index and refraction, the incoming photons flood in from all
directions and angles, and reflect at all angles, they do not return
on the same incoming path.
Immediately above any surface is a zone of intermix where photons
exchange imformation by contact with each other, here is where the
inherent hologram information about the surface's topology is
imprinted in the photon flood that eventually reaches the
camera, or enters your eyes. There may also be property in
the electron adding imprint to photons, for instance which
side of the electron is the photon on when its wavelength
disentangles from 'excitement level' and leaves 'orbit'
Photons hold the key, as lepton particles, they absorb 'imprints'
of what is happening around them in the enviroment they leave to
reach termination either on film or in the eye's retina. When you
look and see, you are not looking actually at a solid surface, but
rather at a plane just above the surface, where the image you actually
see is created. Here is where stereo information in imprinted like a
super subtle hologram that continues to the final destination of the
'carrier wave' photons
The photons do not enter a camera point source to point source.
Contrary to common physics belief, photons enter a camera from
all angles, and strike a camera's films over all parts of the
frame, incoming from different angles. For instance photons
from the upper left corner of the view can strike the lower
right corner of the film, and visa versa, continuing to
record super subtle hologram information via positive
re-enforcement in cross-hatching patterns made as the
random (non-point source) photons strike the film
Actually, I am not speaking about photons per se, but Leptons

SCATTERED INCIDENT LIGHT PROPERTY VERIFIED
|
INCIDENT LIGHT EFFECT IN BOOSTING INHERENT 3D
'Incident Light' as a property principle in reproduction of
inherent 'stereoscopics' recorded in any mono photograph or
high DPI digital image, has been VERIFIED by experiments.
Color reproductions of images were made by both Canon and Zerox
photocopiers. The Canon principle reads what color dots are found
in an image, for instance photograph or magazine picture, and
reproduces same, with enhancements upon same if selected.
Whereas Zerox creates new rastering in the form of artificial
rectangular areas marking small 'bits' of picture for repro
in different colors per resident strong color per rectangular
bit.
The result is that Canon reproduces what it sees (which is why
Canon can reproduce money which can be passed off as genuine in
dark bars at night), whereas Zerox alters the image creating
a sort of 'computerized' version of what it sees.
In effect, Zerox reproductions have poor quality sterero. Canon
reproductions have stereo which can be as good as in the original
mono image being photocopied.
DEFINATIVE PROOF TESTS
Tests were done mounting Canon reproductions on a support panel,
two images stuck side by side to it with spray adhesive, and the
panel held upright in a vice with alligator clips. The tests
were very simple, yet revealing, as follows.
It was found that by tilting the angle of the vice's large alligator
clips forward and back, and rotating the whole support structure at its
base by certain degrees, that 3D stereo could be dramatically improved,
or suppressed, in the two side-by-side identical mono images being
studied.
Two large magnifying glasses held upright side-by-side at an unusually
long distance back away from the surface, was the principle method
for viewing stereo, in these tests, although going cross-eyed to focus
the two images also worked albiet uncomfortably if holding the images
in focus for any length of time.
Three main sources of incident light striking the surface of the
two images were tested, one, daylight streaming in from a large window,
second, light streaming down from a ceiling lamp behind overhead, and
third, light streaming from a wall fixture further back in the room.
EXACT GEOMETRIC PLACEMENT
When the display panel was tilted to accomodate the behind-overhead
source of scattered incident light, stereo noticably improved when
the tilt was in the close range of 15 degrees off-angle to the light
striking from the behind-overhead light fixture which had two 100
watt light bulbs.
When the display was carefully turned to angles pursuent to roughly
30 degrees from incident light streaming in from the daylight window,
which was more laterally to the side to the right of the experiment,
stereo again noticably improved more.
And finally, repositioning the display on a table top surface to be
also able to capture incident light striking at off-angles pursuent
to 15 and 30 degrees from the rear wall light fixture, genuine 3D
stereo was again seen to be better, the rear-wall light source test
taking place at night when the daylight window light source was dark.
SIGNIFICANT RESULTS
It become entirely clear that placements and tilts of the stereo
pair of mono images relative to scattered angle incident light
sources, was a fractal geometry phenomenon, that better stereo
resulted no-arguement when angles relative to Hexagon and 12 sided
figure formations were paramount.
The experiment was continued to include tilt angle and rotation of a
computer monitor displaying two identical images side-by-side and the
exact same conclusions were observed - that the angles at which incident
light struck the image being viewed handsomely positively re-enforced
the visible 3D effect in the images, when the angles were exactly
correspondent to fractal geometry principles, by shifting, tilting,
and rotating the computer monitor in and out of phase with
incident light angles conducive to 15, 30, and 60 degree
angles striking the computer screen.
The conclusion can only be that incident light in a room also conveys
carrier wave information, that can positively re-enforce, or suppress,
a stereo matrix stored in a mono photograph, depending on what the
prevailing angles are in incident light striking the image being
viewed in stereo.
These simple definative experiments confirm that an In (positive)
and Out (negative) phasing due to the scattering of incident light
rays striking the mono images pair, principally interact with phasing
elements stored in the original picture, the phasing elements not
seen in the normal view or look of any picture, but which can be
intuited at once by turning a picture of the Moon upside down
and seeing craters turn into buttons, the change in evident
Moon topology a property of elemental light interference
and phasing patterns, since the Moon photo itself does not
change when it is turned upside down.

A thick compact arm extends far

a more pristine instantly seen rattle is found in M101, this
rattle, like the ones in M101, seemingly formed by impact

Image 1, it is very
tell-tale. First, it is writhing
at a different pace and in different directions
to the whorls of the greater range of longer arms cycling
around beyond the core, a different state of dynamics than the

an arms spins off to the left issuing forward than
winds directly under the core to the right.

different rates are different states in angular momentums,
which can vary one state to the next by sharply
declented angles, and cams that are
noticably rotated out
of phase
Also
notice in
Image 1 that the
white flares (comets)
crest the tops of the arms like
tassles on the hems of thick deep curtains.
It has been subsequently found that galaxy arms in
enhanced and 3D-presented images, are typically of similar
constructs, that is, flares cresting the lineal tops of
thick deep forms comprising sheeting arms, and
very substantial quantities of 'missing'
mass hidden from view since the

of the arms cannot

the most interesting
news learned in virtual stereo

aspects seen in nebulas. In the case of atomics above
the four dart points offset from the 4 cardinal points of a

camera, whereas the spirellas each curve out toward the
camera. In this case, all equal similar forms behave
alike. In Nebula, it happens that two similar

Proof Of Concept

High school science teachers, physics teachers, university
professors, professional astronomers, take note that you owe
it to your students to make them aware of such awesome 3D potential
in the world's total reservoir of mono photographs,
so that each person may
judge for themselves without being whipped by a dogma or threatened
with dismissal if they think the unthinkable - stereo is stored in
all mono photographs! All that was needed was discovery
of a method to cause the latent stereo to re-occur visibly,
by natural, not artificial, means.
The means is simply focusing in overlay two images placed side by side,
and letting the intrinsic holograph content in each image merge and
combine, the overlay combination engages principles which also create
optical illusions in photos, except, in producing stereo, the optical
illusion princples refracted via incident light from one side (one
image) engage the same in the other image to positively re-enforce,
generating latent stereo content which springs to light fully
visible.

is by at most about .03 percent, the tiny
percentile applied to the whole
picture not to just any
small portion(s)
of the photo.
Increased
stereo is much found
by increasing the HEIGHT
slightly above original, for instance
all of the images shown herein are displayed in
Heights increased in a gradient from about +7 to +13
points depending upon the picture and which increase works
best. The slight increase in Height translates
into a greater depth field on the 'Z'
axis (into long distance
depth into the
picture)
The
fact that
increasing the
Height above the image
original translates into increased
depth in the resulting mono 3D view (in outright
violation of well established binnocular stereo photograph
theories) is proven by the following, in which the
two Widths are identical, and the Height is
increased by H=+12 points for the
left image, and H=+15 points
for the right image,
both being the
heights for
real good
stereo
Above,
wobbling
in the views,
seen only in Virtual
3D, is caused by distortions
in the camera lens. You will not see
the distortion or even know it is there
until witnessed in Virtual stereo. In fact
most camera lens (except for extreme
expensive) have some distortion,
the warps exposed in an
instant. In this case
further distortion
(zigzagging)
has come
from the
process used
to digitalize the image
Astronomy
images are correct
in this method of genuine stereo.
Hubble engineers at Nasa have been able
to take a few stereoscopic photos of celestial objects and have
presented their results to the public. The views produced by
Nasa using traditional binoccular stereo techniques, and
the views of the same objects produced by me using
only a single MONO photo, are identical,
except Nasa views tend to have
more foreground and deep
distance stereo
depth
whereas
mine have far
better detail and clarity
Steam

look the way they do with

all for free. I nabbed it as a small photo from
an Internet volcano watch site
HOW FAR CAN A PICTURE BE DEGRADED AND STILL BE SURFACE CONCEPT
CORRECT IN 3D. WITNESS THE FOLLOWING PICTURE OF A TORNADO IN THE
LAST STAGES OF ROPING OUT BEFORE VANISHING
Long rope tornado coils for miles above a shoreline
The above
tornado spectacular
scanned by I from a daily newspaper.
The radians obvious in the digital image are due
to the fact that the newspaper spread on the carpeted living room
floor was carelessly walked on before the volcano picture was
scanned. The newspaper reported that this was a
wire photo, it was not a glossy print
used by the daily newspaper
As
you can
see, everything
is STILL correct.
Furthermore, the stereo sharpens
details and perception so that many things can be
seen clearly in the stereo version which simply cannot be inferred
in a single-only mono view. For instance it seems the right edge is
cropped, cutting away the point where the dark rope in the sky
(upper right) doubles back and heads further back into the
clouds away from the camera, making this a remarkably
long and kinky tornado, an understanding you
can only have by seeing the image in
its full stereo potential, other
wise it looks only cloud
in the upper right
Rope
tornados,
like the above,
are the aftermath as
the tornado quits, the long
rope form appears, then it vanishes
|
Thus
is proven
the existence of
stereoscopic content inherent
in any mono photograph, no matter how old, no
matter how grainy, no matter how poor quality. This tornado
image is a slight enhancement (by a moi) of the original after it was
scanned, using only standard straight forward enhancing techniques
available in any graphics editor such as Paint Shop Pro,
Corel Draw, Abode. The only enhancers I used were
image density (Gamma Correction), and colors
(all three, red, green, blue, increased
by just a few points). Brightness
is also used, sparingly. But
not Contrast, which
may improve a
picture
for
3D
clarity
on rare occasions
pursuent to original processes
that produced the picture. Contrast otherwise
usually inhibits any genuine 3D the picture already has.
At least I have found this problem with Contrast so I stay away
from it. It is possible Contrast has great use in the hands of others
experimenting with their own ideas for reproducing a picture's latent
original 3D potential. Contrast can work sharpening details in a
small size picture but almost always fails its services in
larger images, and, can irradicate important
small details, plus all stereo

Great Wall Of China, from an ad on the glossy back

experimentally photocopied in different degrees of
enhancement by Zerox and Canon machines,
differences in stereo gradient could
be easily seen in the depth

Then, digital

computer screen display, changes
the character of the little image completely - behold

And
so now
here is a view of
a center slice of Andromeda,
the great stereo breadth in this image's latent
stereo potential makes it plain that Andromeda is toward a
wide disk spiral galaxy circle-related around its circumpherence rather
than a narrowed sickle cell as all mono images of Andromeda imply, even
though ribbons flowing along the back flank tend to be vertical like
ribbons of pastry wrapped around the hub of a cinnamon
bun. In fact, the face of Andromeda is a wide
sweeping expanse across its broad
cross sectional area away
from the camera,
and there
is a

INCREASING THE STEREO BY INCREASING THE HEIGHT
|
You can actually increase an image's latent inherent stereo
content conciderably, by increasing the height of one image
(say the right) greater than the other image, by +10 points
or more, between the side by side image.
The result can be very uncomfortable on the eyes, but, since,
the original mono photo captured incident rays from for instance
the top of the image to the bottom of the film, and visa versa,
height hence plays a very important commodity in the recreation
of the original image's stereo. Usually height gradiants of +4
between the images is comfortable to the eyes, anything more
can be an unusual kind of eyestrain even though stereo can
increase to surpising levels.
This is entirely out of context to standard binoccular stereo
image theory in which height has no bearing whatsoever in the
recreation of binoccular stereo using two images each photographed
at least a minimum of 6 inches apart.
In 'Virtual Stereo' - in a mono photo,
height is one of the components of intrinsic must.
In the past, height gradiants as much as +15 points between
1 image and the other were tried. For a couple of years images
were staged at mostly a +4 point gradiant. Nowadays (for most
of the images in Galaxies in Chaos) most images are staged in
height gradiants of just +1 or +2 points, which is completely
comfortable to the eyes and produces greater clarity in details
seen in depth along the 'Z' axis. The change gradual from large
(+15) to slight (+1), the +1 and +2 numbers coming unexpectedly
one day when trying to overcome an unruly
'venetian blind' effect in an important image.
Most of the images have been tested for best stereo in stagings at +1
and +2 gradiant differences in height. Only a handful of images in
Galaxies In Chaos (from over 2000 stereo pairs) have been tested for
+3 staging. It is possible that a number of images will have better
stereo with +3 gradiants, but, as said, the +3 height gradiant parameter
was not routinely checked, when testing each image pair in groups of
height staged variables, before selecting and using a particular staged
pair for their best stereo.

NOT QUITE STONED
In the
following, the
word 'astounding' means
the brain buzzing in very pleasant
surroundings, not a blown mind, not an euphoric
exhaultation, a very pleasant buzz stemming from complete
unexpected surprise with hardly any mental bucket yet to put it in
How
it all
started. Circa
November 1966 there was
no such thing as 3D in mono images,
3D anaglyphs were being used by the medical
and research professions to pass around stereo images
made from two separate binoccular photos merged together into
one anaglyph viewed with red and blue 3D glasses. Otherwise, all
stereo vision was produced by binoccular eyesight needing 2
photos, to satisfy each eyeball. I had just within days
learned how to hypertext code a file using
instincts from once before having
produced a 1400 page editor
manual using a KISS
giant laser
printer
on loan
its codes
it turns out
the underneath level
of what is now hypertext so the
first day I saw this I had my own home page
up on the Internet and two days later was including
images. I wanted to show three images from the sonic sound
experiments, I put in the codes for length and width for all three
and called the page to screen in my Netscape browser and instantly
saw something was wrong, one of the three photos had been a
scanned vertical photo the other two horizontal the
vertical photo now totally distorted a TV
set in the corner looking like a
pumpkin. Something went
dingdongbing in
a front
lobe, it
was, hey, isn't
that how stereo is made
from drawning disporportionate lines
to make 3D comic books and cartoons. I restaged
the image, this time vertically, this time two identical
copies side by side one a little wider the other a little higher
and took a look. Amazed was I. The coffee table legs were in
the fireplace, no. The chair was behind the wall, no.
The TV set was floating in space looking turned
inside out, no. I was astounded because
I was looking back into a living
room I had last seen two
years earlier, in
3D. Instead
of complete ruin
and distortion, the two
mono photos leaped to life revealing
the single mono photo, scanned to digital, had
inherent 3D galore. Other images proved likewise. I turned
to astronomy, posted a scanned picture of galaxy Ngc 2997 and
saw a writhing galaxy vortexing through space its long arms
yanging forward then yinging back and taking an abrupt
kinked jog through space behind the galaxy. Believe
me I was hooked you can never retreat
from a sight like that
In
those
days circa
1996 I thought you
had to use a lot of horizontal
and vertical stretch in an image to get
good 3D its true you do but the focusing effect is
murderous on the eyes. Today I use minimum possible stretches
to display an image and need only to show details seen easily in
3D which can't be recognized in mono. It is possible to get
more, even substantially more, stereo in the images I
show but to do so forces siege of great eye
strain and a lot of work finding the
ultimate perfect window for
best 3D. No way, good
enough is good
enough. If
I can
show
details
unseen in mono,
this is good enough for me
LIVINGROOM PAIR

Original
pair of living
room images revealing on
the instant stereo in a mono photo,
are below as Newsonics 7. Apolgies for
the eyestrain these images are
very stretched
The history of 'virtual 3-d' is very short. I accidentally came across
the principle when attempting to color enhance and sharpen a very poor
quality photo of a sound experiment underway 2 years before first passing
the photo through a brand new first time scanner just acquired, being
tried at home. The photo was of a demonstration in which full stereophonic
3-d sound was being reproduced from original mono Glen Miller wire
recordings, using just a single 10 inch woofer with an 8 inch oval
woofer wired in line and lying propped at a distance on the floor,
both speakers driven by a single 22 guage lead from a single channel
of a cheap getto blaster.
The demo worked. The result is summarized as 'the jaw dropping demo'
under "newsonics' on my science anamalies page at
jawdrop.htm - link updated Jan 2001 - G.M.

NEWSONICS 1
AND
NEWSONICS 2
ORIGINAL PHOTO
THE ORIGINAL LIVINGROOM WAS LIGHT BUFF WITH LIGHT BROWN CARPETS.
YOU CAN SEE THE PROBLEM IN THE FOLLOWING ORIGINAL PHOTO. THIS IS
THE WAY THE PRINT CAME BACK FROM THE HOLE-IN-THE-WALL HIGH SPEED
DEVELOPER SERVICE
NEWSONICS 3
I ACCIDENTALLY RE-SIZED ANOTHER (A VERTICAL SHOT) BY MISTAKE AS
HORIZONTAL UNDER TWO OTHERS THAT WERE HORIZONTAL AND SEEING MAJOR
DISTORTION REALIZED IT SHOULD BE POSSIBLE TO GET SOME STEREO FROM
SUCH RE-SIZING OF TWO DIFFERENT COPIES OF A SINGLE ORIGINAL. I WAS
SURPRISED AT HOW MUCH STEREO WAS INHERENT. THIS WAS ON NOVEMBER 5,
1996.
HERE IS THE ENHANCED ORIGINAL, AND AGAIN, AS ACCIDENTALLY RESIZED.
YOU CAN SEE AT ONCE WHAT DIFFERENCE A LITTLE ENHANCMENT MAKES, PLUS
WHAT YOU CAN SEE IN 'VIRTUAL 3-D'.

HMM - ISN'T THIS HOW STEREO IS CREATED, ALBEIT WITH TWO
SEPARATE PHOTOS BY TWO SEPARATE CAMERAS OR LENS?
NEWSONICS 6
ERGO - A DISCOVERY - THESE IMAGES SUPERIMPOSED ARE STEREOSCOPIC
NEWSONICS 7
THIS WAS THE DISCOVERY, THAT STEREO EXISTED EMPIRICALLY COHERENT IN
A MONO PHOTOGRAPH. IT WAS A VERY PLEASANT BUZZ INVOLVING MORE THAN
JUST TWO FRONTAL LOBES. VERRRY PLEASANT. ALMOST NUMBING. BUT NOT
QUITE, I WAS ALREADY REFUNCTIONING SECONDS LATER, STAGING THE NEXT
'LARGER' VIEW.
NEWSONICS 8
SO, THERE IS THE DISCOVERY, 3-D EXISTS IN A SINGLE NONE-3D PHOTO
The photo taken looking down
upon the layout from a 3-step ladder,
with a 110mm camera held vertically, the scene
you see is correct, looking again into that living room
from 2 years before. Pretty successful from a single mono photo.
SEARCHING AROUND
AND SO, I STARTED LOOKING AT EVERY KIND OF PHOTO I COULD GET MY HANDS
ON. ASTRONOMY IMAGES WERE JUST INCIDENTAL, BY THE BY, HOWEVER IT BECAME
FACINATING TO SEE DETAILS AND DEPTH EMERGING, COMPLETELY CHANGING THE
ASSUMED CHARACTER OF MANY OBJECTS ESPECIALLY WHEN THE BEST ASTRONOMER
CONJECTURES WERE WHOLELY MISSING SALIENT FEATURES SEEN IN AN INSTANT
IN 3-D.
I had general population passing interest in astronomy at the time, no
big deal, occasionally bought a copy of Discover Magazine or Astronomy
Magazine, had never been involved in astronomy, except for the third
eyeball turned to astronomy circumstances due to solutions of
'Perfect Eclipses' solved 6 years earlier
as a mathematical excercise not as an end consequence of emersion in
total eclipses, which itself came by the by as simple curiousity -
two total eclipses were upcoming back to back in the early 80's
and TV even the daily newspapers were screaming about this,
showing images and scientifically hand drawn schematics of giant
Moons beside Earth parallaxally superimposing even more-giant Suns
sitting right beside the Moon, even idiotically grinning cartoon
characters battling each other in screetching adult's kids voices
for supremacy in the universe. All this racket over two back to
back total eclipses, with a lot of money involved in promotions,
products, and trips to the best view sites.
A curiosity element got ahold of me, just how far apart is the Sun and
Moon during a total eclipse, and most important of all, how far does the
Moon move in accomodating total eclipses with the Earth closest to the
Sun, and farthest away. To my complete bewilderment, the amount in
space the Moon moved in connectivity in the maximum range of the
Earth's displacement in eccentricity in orbit, was no more, no
less, than the diameter of the Earth.
It took another 8 years of hard work cracking for long sieges on the
13 digit calculator's digit keys to balance the equations into a
'perfect set' where Earth's equatorial diameter, and polar diameter,
drop out as fundamental constants in inner gravitic space in the solar
system. Sorry for the mouthful but accuracy is accurate, that above
is the simplest quick take I can make for you on what took place during
the 1980's as a total annonamous member of society who had not yet even
eased over the edge into becoming a self declared amateur astronomer
research finder.
Next is the first astronomy image ever scanned by me. The writhing
vortexing arms blew me away. You can never turn back from a vision
like this, seen for the first time. Don't forget, the magazine article
accompanying the photo described a flat plane galaxy with arms winding
around a disk decribed as theoretically flat as the rings of Saturn.
A 2D dimensionally flat galaxy, (which everyone believed before Hubble
came on line).
One look at the writhing worm armed vortex cutting swaths through depths
of 3D space, and I cut out the photo for storage and threw the magazine
with its 'article' on pure cutting edge modern science and astronomy
research in the garbage. No need to keep such 'science' any longer.
The flat universe of the ego centric Earth had vanished in one fact
that effects the whole of astronomy. So, a pent up core dump has just
been dumped - GM.
NGC 2997 PAIR
The above Ngc 2997 image is an extreme hardship pair, don't forget,
as already mentioned, at the start back then I thought extreme
differences in height and width were needed to evoke the mono
picture's inherent 3D.
PRECURSOR TO THE PRESENT EVOLVEMENT
Earlier tests circ dec 1996 describing placing of view planes and
incident lights from overhead, from rear of room, and from windows,
at critical 15, 30, and 60 degree angles, noticably increasing stereo
effects when viewing mono images side by side in Virtual 3D pairs,
using two identical color photocopy images mounted side by side on
a panel, stuck in place by graphic artist layout spray adhesive, two
magnifying glasses held side by side the principle
viewing device.
INITIAL (ORIGINAL) INVESTIGATIONS - OF PHYSICALLY MOUNTED IMAGE PAIRS,
BY 'A MOI' THE AMATEUR SCIENTIST
Note:
your eyesight
can be used to create
a composite image on the spot.
By focusing two image together in which
the best details of one merge with the best details
of the other resulting in an image spectacular in
the amount of extra information which can be
seen in the one combined view. Forget
the bonus stereo, the overlay
itself intensifies hard
to see details in
copious lush
POSITIVE RE-ENFORCEMENT OF PEAKS, NEGATIVE SQUELCHING OF VALLEYS
In the next pair, a green enhanced M101 view at the left has some inner
detail, just. A more strongly enhanced green image of M10 beside it, has
all inner features obliterated but more traces in the far outskirts are
seen. Then the two are merged, inner features are seen, and the outskirts
features are amplified beyond what is seen in either image, because of
positive re-enforcement intensifying peaks and squelching valleys in the
image's trapped photon matrixes.
It means valleys can be false inputs from camera and print, etc.
Positive peaks, when intensified, overwhelm any false positives
inputted into the image from outside sources such as camera and
print. Nice Virtual stereo bonuses free for the taking, we do not
have to do any work to get the bonuses.
HOW TO MAKE THE STEREO VANISH
By
the way
notice how much
stereo improves by the
change of just one point in width,
the first of each of the next two images is
stages with Width=299 and Width=298, the second
image of each view is staged at Width=298,
Width=298, both widths are the same.
Stereo in the second views has
collapsed to almost
unseen, this
blows any
concepts
right out
of the water
that chance displacement
of objects and vanishing point perspectives
causes the stereo, to see such dramatic stereo change in
vanishing point perspective - hand drawn - is the cause of stereo
in these astronomy images is false, the stereo is in the images
and has nothing to do with hand drawn 3d cartoon binoccular
mechanics, the 1 point difference in width is
wayyyyyyyyyy too small to be effecting
a hand drawn cartoon version
of stereo
Three hardship pictures scanned from a glossy paper monthly magazine,
the first two as large pictures reduced to small size, the third (tree)
printed on paper so thin you can read letters from the page behind. All
three have useful useable stereo
BIG IMAGE SUMMARY
Two identical canon photocopies of this image (netfishing in shallow
tropical river), mounted side by side by double back masking tape on
an upright support panel, the panel itself (carboard) mounted on a
sturdy small vice with alligator clip which swivelled in any direction,
was used to study incident light striking an image at different angle(s),
producing better, producing less, stereo, depending on the incident
angle(s), finding that angles set as close as possible to 15, 30 and
60 degrees by moving around the support panel and/or vice and swivelling the
alligator clip, using a large plastic protractor to measure, produced
best stereo effects when the angles were at hexagon related (15, 30,
and 60 degrees) often the change in improvement more than noticable.
The run of tests was done prior to having any scanning means to make
digital images for display in a computer. As soon as a scanner was
available (shortly after) all externally mounted tests were abandoned
(no need) instead tests turned to the monitor itself where turning it
in relation to any incident light(s) striking the screen from different
directions produced subtely different noticable degrees of improved
stereo expecially when the monitor itself was tested in various 15,
30, and 60 degree facings to incident light(s), and also the tilt
of the monitor itself responded with best stereo when tilt angle
of the color screen was in 15 or 30 degree angles to incident light.
The fishing stream image above was from the back of a glossy monthly
science magazine (top quality high gloss print and paper). The original
picture was in an ad for another monthly science magazine.
For instance did you know there is a bend in the river, seen in the panel
mounted external print 3d tests. A boy sits on the shoulders of someone
wearing a yellow shirt, and a women with her arms forward dipped in the
water is stooped with her knees apart. These details were not seen in
the canon photocopy tests, these 3d details came to light later in
browser digital display.
A much smaller image which has come to be called the 'chinawall' was
a small piece collaged amongst many travel ad images on the back of
another issue of the glossy monthly magazine got from the supermarket
newstand, the chinawall image photostated well and in particular scanned
well yeilding what was seen at the time as rather amazing stereo from
a mono image increasing proportionately the zeal at which stereo in
mono images tests were pursued at this time (fall 1996).
View 1
In particular, notice how far back the chinawall snakes into the distant
hills disappearing into the upper left. In simple display, View 2, (two
identical images side by side at identical display parameters), the long
distance vista has less opened up stereo, stereo presence is definately
in View 2 but lacking is the gain in sonic space (3d openess) comprising
the sense of the stretched out long distance Z axis depth seen in View 1.
The opened up vrs compressed stereo illustration is firmly mentioned to
cast light on intrinsics as to how more 3d can be coaxed out of mono
images.
View 2
In fact the chinawall image (original 190x282) could be enlarged to
nearly twice itself (View 1 displayed above at 299x453 and 298x455)
and instead of loosing, gained substantially in stereo depth and
details which could only be seen and understood in stereo.
Original is small
Other images were in the early tests circ fall of 1996.
A tibet cliff face with dwellings was interesting because of its degree
of mono stereo in which a large image was reduced to small side by side,
producing sizzling in the image (small data points scintillating because
no counterpart one image to the other is available to focus together).
A scan of a Whitehorse Yukon postcard of a three story log cabin (where
I lived and did math/physics/geometry research for six months on the 1st
floor (straight up the first flight and in my yellow front door) circ
spring summer 1997) was also extensively tested for fine detail for
instance seeing a skelter of telephone lines in stereo which could
not be distinquished at all in mono.
What at first was most intriguing was the degree to which the thin
stick railings differentiated into details in mono stereo.
The record for best stereo goes to this desert escarpment, its a fluke
why this mono image can have such pronounced 3D,
virtual stereo is usually less pronounced in the extreme limitings
of simple innocent browser display, best 3d requires accute discrete
small variants in image width and height per side by side pair whereas
browser display affords only about 10 percent and less of that accuracy.
