That is a
piece of furnace
filter leaned against
the livingroom wall. Although
it looks casually placed, it is there
with great care and exacting fuss and fiddle
getting it to lean at just the right angle and to
stay flanged out (it was very flimsy stuff being half
the thickness of a full peeled sheet) a garden
stake from the back yard used to strut it.
Filters worked to dampen out hard
barks and lessen fracturing
in the sound stream but
also dampened sonics
that led to full
stereo in full
range of all
octaves in
particular
the bottom
base, none of
that lower octave
came out to be heard
when furnace filters were
standing around all over the place.

Why am I
harping on
furnace filters?
Fibre glass material
is the most commonly used
stuffing and control damping
material used in the audio industry
and as far as I can tell, any presence
of the stuff hurts good sound.
