Why so
recent. Why
not Virtual 3D years
or a century ago. Most people
have never held two magnifying glasses
upright together to look at something, not even
once in their lives. Most people have held one glass
as close to the subject as possible to get best focus
and lean right in peering intently. Finally, it is
2 large glasses that work. Smaller, the vision
field is too small to contain the whole of
the 3D image. Too large, the Glasses
result in a major impossibility
in bringing the two images
together into a self
contained 3rd in
between. All
of these
strokes
against an
accidental discovery
years ago. Also, everyone has
pre-concieved beliefs that 3D in a mono
picture is impossible, and no one has ever had a
use to hold up two glasses simultaneously side by side. Yes
indeed the secret has remained hidden for a very long time, indeed,
yes, it is ineed a wonder the secret of the glasses ever came to light,
indeed I myself went November 96 to September 98 before trying
the two glasses for the first time, just on a whim.
An element
of sudden curiosity
supplied the idea and the
fact that two glasses of the same
size just happened to be sitting there
alongside the computer supplied the means.
WAS I ever SURPRISED. You can see I have fun
using the word 'indeed'. It is the most
overused word in the history of the
world's scientific archives.
If the world's greatest
self proclaimed
thinkers are
going to
use

'indeed' for every
thought, I am going to use the
word 'indeed' for a simple idea, again and

Quasar comes home

Proof continues, a rented house used for 3 years on the east side of Ottawa in Orleans on Montcerf Ave., the friendly little dog Quasar trotting home to turn up the driveway and in when given a quick low volume holler, the three bedroom two-car garage dwelling itself used for 3 1/2 years as center of operations for Virus Alert of which I was co-developer handling codes and programing and menuing systems plus updates and basic designs improvements, along with an impicitly trusted associate who rigorously adhered to a fundamental design concept for the program forcing me to comply with often very difficult very kinky programing and which won Editors Choice in PC Magazine (European edition), in spare time the Montcerf house used to complete rounds of tests and experiments determining that 3D stereophonic sound is inherent in all mono recordings and certain mono source reproduction techniques and determining how much authentic original stereo sound can be reproduced as stereo from mono - the results in the end days of the experiments circ 1995 when the last of the four possible input/output channels on the getto blaster failed, fooled listeners with their eyes closed percieving hearing stereo from a wall sized battery of speakers and high tech gear whereas the sound that fooled them came only from a single 10 inch woofer hanging propped out in the open by a long nail jutted out in the open air and linked in series to an 8 inch oval tweeter pulled from the back of the small blue Buick sedan parked in the driveway, the 8 inch tweeter lying propped up at a strategic 30 degree angle on the living room floor a few feet away from the 10 inch woofer, all line-feed into the two speakers by one thin speaker lead from a single mono channel of the cheap getto blaster which inherently was supposed to have no fidelity, no high end, no deep base whatsover whereas in fact the mono wire recorded late 30's early 40's Glen Miller orchestra was reproduced so resonantly that a good listener could hear it all the way out from the family room at the back of the house up the long central hallway around the corner out the open front door up the driveway and out in the street approximately the distance where Quasar was walking (see above dog photo) because the sound experiments done entirely by a moi had finally succeeded (pursuing ideas that only I had through a 5 1/2 year period of newsonic experiments done at home - in the beginning to try and get rid of appalling racket from the getto blaster which was bought with corn selling money put aside pilfered in a can from household groceries petty cash bit by bit, sounded god aweful when brought home and hooked up in a small condo being rented at the time, but, the sonic experiments continued to evolve and eventually also reproduced long distance and very long distance carrying of sound.

Boy oh girl do I ever detest complex or intricate extra levels of computer code, I had one friend who did things others said were not possible, good enough, in fact, he was fantastic, (helped his wife in his spare time produce a whole new Internet interface into the WWW Web for the Federal Government's National Research Council Library Resources, they did not have one and he and his wife produced the government's first that worked), especially when handling our Virus Alert hotline, however, in the simple stuff, page after page would roll out under his typing, the more severe, the more complex, the more got-it-all in every step, the more he thought it was demonstrating superior programing ability and believe me he overlooked nothing in putting together strings that did simple things, all of my codes were as simple and threadbare as they could get, all of my work on Virus Alert anti virus was done in a simple batch file using a syntax code and terms library capable of being compiled into an executable (.exe) via a compiler cooked together by a serious computerist out of central New York state who went 100% alkaholic after a bit of success I tried to contact him many times by long distance phone and finally got his Dad on the line again who said 'if you really want to talk to him take your chances' and on came a voice so slurred so rummed with ounces coherent conversation was impossible - it was mid day - and that brought to an end an idea I had that the fellow's original batch file psuedo C language program could be modified for a lot more in how I was using it to produce version after version of VIrus Alert, serious programmers, the few I allowed to have a look at Virus Alert source codes, were stunned and amazed at the simplicity with which I was doing seeming complex and extroardinarily complex program structures some thought was being handled by a team of 100 or so programmers in a vast complex in a suburb of a vast city, but it was only me, doing as carefully as I could not to waste a single extra string of code to get a job or a step done in software, the same approach I have taken for the whole of the Galaxies In Chaos site, anyone who takes a look at any one of the Htm 'source' displays will see there are not even any keywords or descriptions in any one of the files, like I say, my only motto is, waste not, want not, and, to make things even simpler, I type everything into text by hand without aid of an HTM editor or Microsoft Word to do it, only Ringworld is used, an all purpose rapid text editer and super user friendly key functions program I cooked up in 1987 and which, for seven months, was at the top of the short list first choice for a new government of Canada word processing standardization before standardization for Canada went to Word Perfect, the only problem being my Ringworld editor did not type french characters and the programmer I had on cue who would write the french interfacing keyboard wanted a deposit up front for the work, a deposit I was not able to raise in that anyone who wanted to fork pork (money) wanted to see the french keyboard already up and running before they forked, and, then, wanted 90% of all profits for forking, believe me to be sincere when I tell you that there are many poeple out there with money who think that way.

(Please, no panic calls, I am long since gone from the anti virus business).

Anyway, all of GIC was typed in Ringword, which I (and a few others who still keep seeing the light on time saved, effort not wasted) still use, 16 years later.

And finally, a drumset I assembled of 15 pieces this summer (2001) in a cabin west along the Ottaw River, to test the idea of a multi drum set to be known as "Drumbalia" for the drum set and performer, a moi, 6 of the drums were built by hand (me) in a small duplex in the west side of Ottawa circ year 2001 the strips of lumber cut to length in the kitchen with a small $7.00 handheld saw and the drums assembled sitting on the living room sofa both simple-shell contruction techniques and magnified tone volume and range for the drums were tested in the handmade versions the bass drum for instance is a shell only 6 1/2 inches wide, the hand made drums the basic embodiment around which the larger Drumbalia was erected, the basic hand made components so lightweight 5 pieces were carried in one modular stack into bars for open house in one load held up in two hands manouvering easily effortlessly through the bar doors, only one foot extended foreward toe hooked on the winter snow plastered door as I manouvered essentially the whole drum set through the outer then inner door in one easy continuous motion, you drummers out there who have ever hauled kits packed in cases will appreciate what I have just said.





Grunt but no appology for the photo quality, taken by an aquaintance with a disposable Kodak paper camera with no flash or indoor lighting to balance that pouring in the window.

Someday drum rhythms performed on a final Drumbalia version and recorded at home will be used as background sound for some GIC pages, when dough is available to update my computer for sound, and, perhaps, movie and video clips. If I get around to offering the whole of the Galaxies In Choas project for sale on three CD's, sound background and perhaps video clips will definately be included, because I can hear certain drum rhythms which should go well with the images of certain galaxies and nebulas and deep space visible gravity wave formations.

It turns out that so far I have not been able to capitalize one iota on the successes of the mono sound experiments simply because every one I have ever told, except for a few friends, simply do not believe that stereo sound in mono sources is possible and that anyone who says it is, such as myself, is bonkers, and if I persist proclaiming, see me as a sadly delusioned escapist from a mediocre reality. But, such is not the case, I have nowhere to escape to and, it turns out, having done the experiments to satisfy curiousity, has been reward enough.

The fundamental physics equations linked at visitastrony.com/eclipse.htm. were begun in 1979 out of curiosity and continued off and on by myself sole'o'meo, in spare time during the 80's to their solutions and finishes in the mid 90's, the Perfect Eclipse equations solved in 1989 and the last draft in several description attempts done circ mid 90's, the atomic hygrogen physical constant constants project (atom.txt) at visitastrony.com/eclipse.htm, begun in 1981, stalled in 1983, continued stalled through the 80's and suddenly balanced in 1995.

Drumbalia, (see drum set above), was possible because of a surprise sudden purchase offer from an Ottawa music store closing out the last of their drum section, sold me a small room of old stands, shells, skins, hoops, attachments, and miscellaneous bits and parts for the astonishing low price of $250 - whizz gee how the money smoked travelling through the air from my pocket to the outstretched hand faster than the speed of light because I had just been to the bank machine for hydro bill money - it was the fastest purchase I ever made in my life, it took two full loads in a mid sized 1989 Oldsmobile station wagon to haul the booty, it was five days around the clock night and day almost no sleep at the cabin to finally get things fitted and screwed together enough to start practicing on the Drumbalia drum set, three dozen empty shells including half a dozen naked bass drum shells went into storage in an attic near the cabin and are still there I abandoned them when moving back into town at the end of July 2001 after two months at the cabin, when rent money ran out, an eleven piece version plus cymbols is erect now in the dining room of the small duplex in Ottawa west where I have the GIC computer the room area so crowded I bump elbow against the high hat just leaning back from this keyboard and laser mouse.

Long paragraph single sentence word strings is a way I have sometimes written, off and on, for years.

I prefer this kind of approach (above) to a personal home page showing him at barbeque the backyard green, wife some distance back, kids on swing and dog frollicing through the air with a frizzby, along with a list of favorite books, movies, music, and greatest achievements and publications. I like to talk about what I am interested in, not what I think or want others to believe in safe image creation. In fact I am known to take risks in announcing things and have had announced claims backfire in the most dismal of ways on more than one occasion, over the years.
