HANDMADE TYMPANI RESONATORS - the idea
for the name came from the following circumstance   to bottom

Narrative description from September 1992. Read Tympani Resonator text.

In 1993
in Orleans
(a suburb immediately
east of Ottawa) an experiment
was done with a large hexagonal geometric
cutout made of stiff art paper and a small 1 1/2 inch
wafer tweeter (from a 1982 Sony Walkman) climped to the cutout
to create a momentary resonating louspeaker consisting solely of the
wafer thin tweeter (its cone was square and made of transparent plastic
mylar) and the larger geometric paper cutout, propped at a 30 degree
angle out in space from a hobby vice, the whole thing driven
by one 24 quage speaker lead from a single channel of
a $360 (Canadian dollars) getto blaster.
This produced stereophonic sound

Tympani
Resonators
were made by climping
a small wafer thin tweeter (pilliaged
from a 1982 Sony Walkman) to a large stiff art paper
12 sided geometric cutout using paper clips, then clamps made
of bent copper wire. Verrrry careful adjustment of the
tilt angle and such, resulted in the tweeter
resonating, the whole of the tympani
matrix diaphram producing far
more sound in terms of
volume and stereo
from mono
sources than
was expected by either
the tweeter alone, or the flat paper
geometric cutout sticking up in the air with just
its cone, without an enclosure, without a second speaker
to produce stereo music and sound from traditional stereo theory.
It was not possible to push this first time simple embodiment
beyond certain barriers created by the large paper diaphram
tipping over, or wilt at critical angles, and to get the
wafer tweeter set above the paper surface at just
the right height for best amplified magnified
overall sympathetic resonances throughout
the whole diaphram powered by naught
but the tiny wafer against it. In
all aspects of normal accoustic
theory and speaker designs
this device violated all
rules, it should have
been impossible, but
worked very well to
demonstrate sonic
principles of a
more fundamental kind
that transpond right down
into the atomic lattice matrixes
of matter to produce super high frequency
vibrations that cascaded via harmonic octaves out into
the room as part of the 'Tympani(s)' overall generating capacity

The
basic
shape and
outlook of the
thing is not that far
away from 'tympani resonators'
that have turned up in galaxies and nebulas
as seen in a spat of recent astronomy photos of the
past 18 years (1982 - 2001). Read now a brief passage of text
from notes written during the period of different experiments with
handmade sonic devices designed to generate stereophonic sound
from Mono sound sources, and the test the fundamental
6-sided and fractal geometry understructural
principles of full value
sonic propigation
